        Steel plants are types of heavy industry, secondary industry, manufacturing, capital-intensive industry, fixed assets, and factories. The 

raw materials for steel mills are iron ore, coal, charcoal, etc., which are supplied by the mining industry. Since steel mills are strategic material 

production, most countries are state-owned enterprises.


        The most common and most harmful safety accidents in steelmaking plants are explosions and scalding of high-temperature melts when 

exposed to water.


        High-temperature molten materials such as water, molten iron, and steel slag will explode when they come into contact with water. When 

1kg of water is completely turned into steam, its volume will increase by about 1500 times, which is extremely destructive.


        In steelmaking plants, the explosions of melts in contact with water mainly include: converters, open hearth oxygen lances, fume hoods of 

converters, high and medium pressure cooling water leakage of molds of continuous casting machines, and explosions due to penetration of 

melts; steelmaking furnaces , The water-cooled parts of the refining furnace and continuous casting mold are blocked by the return water, which 

will continue to be heated and cause an explosion; Explosion occurs when the wet ladle, molten iron tank, tundish, and slag tank contain molten 

steel, molten iron, and liquid slag; it is caused by releasing heat to the tank pit and slag pit with wet waste and accumulated water. Explosion; 

explosion caused when wet material is added to the steel-making furnace; explosion caused by contact with wet ground in the casting steel system.


        The main measures to prevent the molten material from exploding in contact with water are to ensure safe water supply for the cooling water 

system, the water quality must be purified, and no leakage; materials, containers, and workplaces must be dry.
